This is a ministry of compassion to our faith community of St. Peter's. Pastoral care and emotional support is offered during a personal struggle, serious or life-limiting illness, at time of death, in planning and through the funeral rituals, and through the process of healing. Our ministry team includes our pastor, Fr. Roger Nilles, our bereavement minister, Judy Stolper, parish staff members and parish caregivers.
This ministry is a ministry of gentle love and kindness to our community as an extension of the healing power of Christ. Through our outreach, caring support and resources are offered to those who are journeying through illness or loss.
Periodically, a Moving Through Grief series, for those who have experienced a loss through death, is presented at St. Peter's. The four weekly support sessions are facilitated by parish members who previously have experienced the death of a loved one. The sessions, which offer additional support in a caring Christian environment, include information on the grief process, prayer, personal reflections by facilitators, small group sharing, suggestions for coping, resources, and healing ritual. A fifth follow-up session is held at a later date.

Opportunities for volunteers may include hospitality/refreshments for special liturgies/grief series, providing support through notes, visits, or phone calls, greeting at special functions, spring memorial flower delivery with parish teens, special projects, etc. |
