Prayer Shawl Ministry

Mary Paulson
244-5610

This ministry consists of a group of parish members who knit or crochet. They meet regularly to handcraft shawls with beautiful yarns, prayers, love, and blessings. The "prayer" shawls are given to parish members who may be in need of special comfort due to illness, bereavement, or some other personal struggle. Referrals for shawl recipients may be made to the ministry coordinator or to our bereavement minister or pastor.

Currently, there is an afternoon group that meets in the Parish Center on the first and third Monday of every month from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. There is also an evening group that meets on the same days from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

Knitters/crocheters of all ages and abilities are welcome to join this ministry. Instruction and help is readily available to beginners.

Usual Meeting Time: On Tuesdays or the most convenient week night for the participants, from 6:00-7:00 p.m.

For all interested persons who thirst for God's word, the purpose of this Bible Study Group is to learn more about God's word by studying the Bible and sharing how God has touched our lives. We learn how the power of prayer assists us in overcoming the obstacles we face in our lives and how to keep focused on the Word.

The Bible Study Group format consists of an opening and closing prayer, reading and discussing various books of the Bible through the use of study guides, viewing of videotapes about the Bible, the Holy Land and other related topics, and discussion of the group's interests and future topics of study.
