My purpose this weekend is to invite you to participate in the Sacred Triduum (which means Three Days).
It begins with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday at 7:00 p.m. There is no morning Mass that day. The Mass includes the reception of the Holy Oils, the Washing of Feet and a Eucharistic procession to the Chapel of Reservation (room 10).
No Mass is celebrated on Good Friday. The Commemoration of the Lord’s Passion & Death will be observed at 1:00 p.m. This will include the Liturgy of the Word with the Passion of St. John, the Solemn Prayers, the Adoration of the Cross and Holy Communion.
The Easter Virgil service begins on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. It begins with the blessing of the New Fire and Paschal Candle the proclamation of the Exsultet. The Liturgy of the Word follows with readings that tell the story of our Salvation History. Then the Easter Water is blessed, followed by the Renewal of Baptismal Promises and the Sprinkling Rite.
Twelve of our parishioners will then receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. This followed by the General Intercessions and the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
Your presence at the Easter Vigil will show your support for the newly confirmed.
I hope to see many of you as the Church of St. Peter celebrates the Sacred Triduum.
