From the Desk of Msgr. Charles

When I was beginning my senior year in high school, I began to ask myself the question, “What do I want to do when I grow up?”

I arranged a meeting with the guidance counselor, who happened to be a member of my parish. I asked him, “What do you think I’d be good at?” He said to me, “Your asking the wrong question. What you should be asking yourself is, “What do I enjoy, what do I love?”

It seems to me that God tells us what to do in our lives by the love he puts in our hearts.

The Gospels for last weekend and this weekend are both about the call of the disciples. I believe that they responded to his call because they loved him and loved his mission, the work he was doing.

No matter what age you are, you can discover what God has in mind for you by asking yourself, “What do I love?”
