From the Desk of Msgr. Charles

I’m dictating this letter from Portland where I am visiting my Aunt Joan. She is one of my favorite relatives. When she lived on Long Island, New York, I used to visit her, and we would go into the city to visit all the great museums and other attractions. I owe my love for art to her example. I had a great time in Portland. We visited the art museum, the world’s largest book store, and attended a chamber music concert.

Today at noon I leave by train for Seattle, where I will sightsee on my own. Tomorrow night I will have dinner with Alyssa Brokaw and Leon Dinh, who grew up in our parish. It will be good to see them again. I will be back on Saturday morning, but will be heading for Platteville, where I will be celebrating a Mass commemorating the 175th anniversary of St. Mary Parish. Fr. Jim will have the Saturday evening Mass, and I will be back for the Sunday Masses.

Thanks for allowing me to be gone for a week and enjoy my trip to the Pacific Northwest.
