Commonly known as “Fra Angelico,” Guido di Pietro was born in 1395 and died in 1455. The title “Fra” means Friar, for he was a member of the Dominican Order. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on October 3, 1984 and was declared the patron of Catholic artists. He is universally regarded as the greatest of the Early Italian Renaissance painters. All of his works are religious in theme.
This fresco by Fra Angelico of the Women at the Tomb is my Easter greeting to you. May you have a blessed day.
