From the Desk of Msgr. Charles

The third and final liturgy of the Sacred Triduum is the Easter Vigil. At St. Peter’s it will be celebrated on Holy Saturday evening (April 15) at 8:30 p.m.

It begins with the Service of Light, which includes the lighting of the Easter Fire, the Blessing of the Paschal Candle, the procession and the singing of the Easter Proclamation (Exsultet).

The Liturgy of the Word follows, with four Old Testament readings, an Epistle and the Gospel.

The Liturgy of Baptism begins with the Litany of the Saints. This is followed by the blessing of the Font, the renewal of Baptismal Promises, Baptism, the sprinkling of the people and the celebration of Confirmation.

This year we will be baptizing a 12 year old boy and confirming several adult women.

The Liturgy of the Eucharist and the Concluding Rite are as at a regular Sunday Mass.

The Vigil service will be followed by an elegant reception in our parish hall.

I hope to see you at this beautiful service.
